What is AteRate?
AteRate is a website that allows the public to view food hygiene ratings data from health inspections for UK food establishments. While other food hygiene ratings sources, including the UK Food Standard Agency's own site can show this information, only AteRate lets you search for historic data, some going back before 2000!
Where does the data come from?
The food hygiene ratings data comes through the UK Food Standards Agency from local government authorities, although we also enrich this data from other sources to improve the quality of the user experience
What can I do if the rating for a business is wrong?
All data we receive comes through the Food Standards Agency, so we are not the correct party to contact for corrections. Instead, consider approaching the relevant local government authority.
Can I get access to all the historical data?
AteRate aims to provide access to ratings data, including historical ratings data for personal use only through the AteRate website. If you require access to APIs for gathering historical ratings data, you can contact us over email.
Why was AteRate created?
With so much focus on hygiene, the public wants to understand the history behind their takeaways, restaurants and other food establishments. AteRate aims to bring this information to the public who want to understand the food hygiene ratings for establishments they've eaten at in the past.
